9 Coolest Gadgets that Revolutionize Long Distance Relationship
Back in the 70s, 80s or even earlier, writing letters and waiting a long time for the letters to be mailed is probably the only way for long distance couples to keep in touch, which is definitely very tough. Living in the 21st century, I couldn’t imagine how those successful couples survived.
We are so fortunate today that we have all the things we need to keep in touch with our loved ones, be it social media like Facebook, communicating Applications like Line or video chatting software like Skype. But It doesn’t end here. Technology is still revolutionizing how the world functions, including long distance relationship.
Today, there is a lot more than just communicating in real time online. Let’s check out the following 9 coolest gadgets that totally revolutionize how long distance relationship works. If you are in one, this may help you with your relationship.
(Note: Not all of these gadgets are ready for sale. Some are still a concept while some are still undergoing development/fundraising/manufacturing, etc.)
Kissenger sends kiss across the globe, over the Internet, in real time. It allows couples to feel each other’s kiss even when they are apart.
However, it seems like it didn’t manage to raise enough fund for the gadget to be mass produced.
2. Pillow Talk
Pillow Talk lets you feel the real time heartbeat of your loved one over the Internet. Both of you wear a wristband which picks up your heartbeat and sends it to each other via the speaker you place it under your pillow.
It’s opened for pre-order now and it states that it will ship out in late 2016.
3. Kiiroo Onyx + Pearl
Kiiroo Onyx + Pearl are the toys that allow couples to have real time sex over long distance. These gadgets can be connected via Bluetooth to your laptop and the messages from each gadget will be sent over the Internet. When they are used simultaneously, they will move in sync to mimic real sex.
Available for sale.
Both are very good long distance sex toys. But what I would recommend more is Kiiroo Onyx+Pearl because they have more intimate and real feeling. The male masturbator Onyx has 10 patented contracting rings to simulate even more real experience.
5. The Hug Shirt
As it’s name suggests, The Hug Shirt allows people to send hugs to your loved ones over the Internet. It is one of the coolest wearable technology so far using smart textiles and micro-electronics. Embedded in the shirt there are sensors that feel the strength of the touch, the skin warmth and the heartbeat rate of the sender and actuators that recreate the sensation of touch, warmth and emotion of the hug to the shirt of the distant loved one.
It is available for sale now.
Gadgets NOT Recommended
Ringly is a cool wearable technology that notifies you everything you want from your loved one so that you won’t miss any single message from him. When you are wearing it, it will vibrate when you have new messages.
However, it is not water-proof. It’s only splash-proof. After all, it’s an electronic gadget just like your phone. Also, this is only for females due to the design. It looks fashionable but it’s kind of bulky. Anyway, as what the founder said, men mostly keep their phones in their pockets.
Available for sale.
Frebble is an accessory designed to allow you to hold hands with someone at a distance: when you squeeze it, the other person feels your squeeze.
It sounds cool but when I look more into it, it is actually quite lame. How you feel other people’s hand is by one of the plate pressing against your hand which doesn’t feel like a squeeze of a hand at all.
3. Taion Heart
Taion Heart is a white plastic heart that fits in the palm of your hand. When squeezed, it registers a pulse reading as well as the pressure with which you are squeezing the device. That information is relayed by a wireless Bluetooth connection to a mobile phone running the application and is passed onto your partner’s phone, which in turn beams the information to their corresponding Taion Heart.
It aims to increase more intimate interactions between long distance lovers as well but it’s not a wearable technology. So it is actually quite inconvenient as you still need to carry it around. It’s quality is unknown as well.
4. Love Palz
Love Palz aims to work in the same way as Kiiroo and Lovense – provide long distance sex. But it is an outdated version. It is being developed way earlier so the technology is not as up-to-date.
My Personal Insight + Conclusion
From my research, I found out that there are two stages to the development of technologies in helping long distance relationship.
The first stage of long distance technology has been achieved, that is having accessible and easy-to-use platforms for long distance lovers to communicate in real time. You’re probably very familiar with this. This include all the social media, applications and software that provide the platform for easy communication.
The second stage is still developing, that is making real-time physical contact possible over long distances. From holding hands (Frebble), to kissing (Kissenger), to having sex (Kiiroo/Lovense), all these gadgets aim at providing a more and more intimate experience for long distance lovers.
There’s one more thing… Virtual Reality (VR)! Yes, I guess VR can be applied to long distance relationship as well in the future. It’s simply so powerful. Let’s see…
There is a very important medium throughout the process that we shouldn’t ignore, that is the Internet! One common thing in all the gadgets is that all of them are utilizing the Internet to provide real time experience. Really thankful to have the Internet in today’s world.
Among those that are available for sale, what I would really recommend you to get one for you and your lover are Kiiroo Onyx+Pearl and Pillow Talk. They are worth the investment to give you the connection and enjoyment in your long distance relationship.
